Hello
I think the lexicon.community website already look pretty good, it has a nice identity.
But the brand isn’t persisted else where, for exemple, the GitHub and Bluesky profiles have the generic `{@}` logo, which I think served its time as a placeholder.
I’d love to see a logo for lexicon.community, and a social image that could be used as a banner on Bluesky for instance.
Selfishly, I’d like to also have a logo I could use on Airglow (here for instance RSVP to atproto.com events | @there-hugo.dev | Airglow).
I’m sure the community is full of talented designers, I’m also happy to recommend one

Thanks for posting! Yes I think discussing a new logo that reads well at small sizes like you’ve described is a good idea.
Lexicon Community doesn’t have any funding of its own. The AT Community Fund might be able to sponsor this.
What do you think is an appropriate amount?
How do you think we should pick a designer?
Should we accept submissions?
Any thoughts on how to do this - and getting involved in taking this on - would be appreciated !

Very open to suggestions here.
My preference is to not make N designers work for free to pick 1 at the end.
- We have to scope the needs. I’d say logo and social media cover / bluesky banner / could also be used a an og image
- Define the budget, something between $1k for just the logo and $2k if more
But also, let’s pick a few designers, they have different pricing I guess
How do you think we should pick a designer?
Baed on a portfolio, if te AT Coomunity Fund can sponsor this, I guess they might have a say in picking the designer?
Yes by submissions I meant proposals to get paid to do the work, not “free” competition.
The AT Community Fund* would prefer someone else run the process, we’re not the community and shouldn’t pick. But given a proposal and someone to run it (you? Plus we usually like to see at least one other co-lead) we could fund it.
I’m guessing the LC steering committee could make a decision on final design taking community input into account.

Got it, I wasn’t sure. Great
I’m happy to take the lead on it, and will try to find someone to co-lead

Hey @bmann.ca @ngerakines.me,
I still haven’t found a co-lead. I’ll keep looking (some people were sort of interested but I might have to insist).
Until then, I’d like to keep it moving and define the process to pick the designer. Keeping it simple; basically ask designers to apply here or on Bluesky with:
- A portfolio
- An approximate quote (what they can deliver and a price estimation)
- I’m thinking it would be nice to have a logo and some assets like a banner for social media
I’d leave the applications open for a week or two, and pick the strongest profile with the LC steering committee.
Is it aligned with what you have in mind for such process?
Yeah, it’s all work to try and recruit people. Thanks for giving it a try, this sounds like a good plan.
