Suggested ATProto Touchers Discord Upgrades, new mods

Continuing the discussion from New atproto community discord, where the outcome was, let’s ask current Touchers server owner and admins if we can upgrade / improve the server rather than start a new one.

This page is set up wiki mode, please make edits and suggestions directly.

@psingletary.com @trezy.codes @chaosgreml.in are volunteering to be new mods/admins to help implement and upgrade.

@bmann.ca would like to volunteer to step down from admin :stuck_out_tongue:

Patak can help advise on setup and processes for making npmx a welcoming space. Might need some roles to help with this?

Onboarding

Rather than just the bot channel announcing new joiners, work on various onboarding pieces including active welcome as new people come in.

Generally make the space welcoming and invite people to participate.

Regional Groups

Make a regional groups category and setup channels for groups as needed. @psingletary.com has done airport codes, but perhaps just move to the names that the regions pick.

Working Groups

Have an established process to request working group categories and channels and people with permission to set up roles and hand them off to people that want to run them.

Announcements

Make an announcements channel and a role for who can publish here (e.g. bsky folks blessed to make some status announcements)

Network News

Make a channel where other atproto discords from different projects can have their announcement channels followed and posted into.

From Alex @ Bluesky (approved)

Would like to add Kapa AI Discord Bot and connect it into atproto.com to make discussions / links from Touchers available as part of the docs. See thread in Discord.

note: this feels like something that collectively admins and maybe more of Touchers members should weigh in on. Basically, the classic “who can decide to say yes to this”.

This got approved or rather a “no objections”.

Happy to pitch in with moderation and set up on-boarding / roles if that would be helpful.

Sounds good! I’m good with keeping to my own little corner unless help is needed

All looks good to me! I’m happy to help with onboarding setup, too.

Thanks! I mentioned it to admins yesterday, but looks like I’m going to need to continue the discussion for a while.

I also volunteered for helping with admin/mod duties quite early on, so please don’t miss that. thank you! Both admin ad toucher here.

Yeah at this point I’m kind of stalled. The bot got approved, but the admins didn’t really engage with the rest of the suggestions yet. As I suspected I’m going to need to set aside time when I’m around to go through the background and suggestions to convince folks.

(And it’s a wiki - please edit and add yourself)
