I created a Polis conversation to experiment with collective deliberation on an important ecosystem-wide topic: atproto accounts + app signin/signup UX. I’ve never used Polis before so I’m not very familiar with what constitutes good vs bad statements, but I’m hoping this will help with some of the initial research into shared needs/aspirations. You can contribute to the conversation in two main ways:
vote on existing statements. You can either “agree”, “disagree”, or “pass/unsure”.
add your own statements to the set. Statements should be: “a stand-alone idea”, “a new perspective, experience, or issue,” and use “clear & concise wording”.
“Sign in with Y” is unlikely to get much broad traction unless you’re offering something of significant value to the relying party (i.e. offline authenticated users, users with payment capabilities, or some other characteristic).
Have a few other ideas but going to do the user interviews first.
I think Polis might be an interesting tool if we could get 1000s (10Ks?) of people filling it out but I think it needs some reading / background / context setting.
But maybe “build an edit button” is useful at scale.
