Gamedev conference track

Hello ATproto and game developers!

I’m Lucca (she/her), and I’m helping organize ATmosphere Conference 2026 that’s happening March 26th → 29th, here in Vancouver, BC. I’m a game developer and ATproto enthusiast myself, and I’m working with Boris to help plan and organize the conference.

I’m looking for people excited to help advance some goals of the Conference as it pertains to game development and furthering ATprotocol adoption.

Gamedev-related Goals:

  1. Get more game developers to adopt ATprotocol and onboard to the ecosystem
  2. Have game developers (especially local once) come attend the conference and participate in workshops and discussions.
  3. *Stretch-goal: *Have a “creator’s market” of booths with gamedevs present at the Event venue (requires sponsors to pay for additional venue space!)

ATprotocol Adoption

How can we get more game developer adoption of ATprotocol? Some ideas we’ve had:

  • Onboarding sessions for Game Developers
  • Workshops for adding ownership of game products using Trezy’s Game Lexicon
  • Host an ATproto Gamejam?
  • Create guides on moving from X to Bluesky aimed at gamedevs, feat. Trezy’s gamedev labeler!
  • What ideas do you have?

Gamedev Attendees and Workshops

  • Workshops around using ATproto to improve aspects of the games industry for developers and players:
    • Robust and fair game Credits that support updates after the launch of a game!
    • New ways to connect with gamers via ATproto
    • Posting achievements from games with “rich-presence” data present in them?
  • Networking opportunities to help connect game developers with ATproto developers for collaboration.
  • Have any ideas of your own?

Stretch Goal: Creator’s Market w/ Gamedevs

  • Requires Sponsors to help us pay for extra venue floorspace! (likely same building as the main conference event)
  • Open to public foot-traffic! Students, conference goers, Vancouver locals!
  • Booths for game developers to show off their games!
  • Probably best as a single-day addition to the event, but could be multiple days!

Asks:

  • Your ideas for gamedev meets ATproto activities!
  • Your contacts for potential sponsors!
  • Your volunteer time if you want to get hands on with this project!

Looking forward to hearing your ideas on how we can make attending ATproto Conference a really valuable experience for game developers, and help enrich our ecosystem by being a home to their projects online!

Can we hack DOOM to use atproto for save slots?

Yes. @spookalucca.tv definitely reach out to me.
I think I am uniquely suited to help this effort.
Though, my east coast pull is stronger than in Vancouver.

Not interested in running / boothing creative market yet.
Even the projects interested are still only at curiosity phase.

There is also the PAX East simultaneity.

I have the same desire to talk about game dev on ATProto here in Brazil too for some time, since I originally am graduated as game developer.

I’m not sure yet if I’m going to Vancouver or not, but anyway I’ll try my best to participate as I can with this topic.

I’m thinking that, given current time and resources for 2026, and the timing proximity to other major gaming events like GDC and PAX East, that having a whole gamedev track and booths won’t be in the cards for this year (maybe in 2027!)

However, I think a gamedev ATproto Onboarding session or two would be possible and valuable:

  • How to use ATproto for gamedev marketing and audience-building
  • How to use ATproto for actual game development features:
    • Social Features
    • Game State on ATproto
    • Etc…

We should gauge interest in sessions like those to see if developers would attend the conference for access to sessions like that!

Another worthwhile option would be to do small presentation/showcases at local scene meetups. There’s two local monthlies I already frequent, and more in other cities. Usually just some bar and projector, but it’s exclusively game devs who are the right curious for this stage of adoption. It was very successful when I tried it myself.

Also, a mixer event might be also worthwhile (for the conference). Just open invite any local game devs to come grab a drink and chat with the attending atproto devs. Let the mingle happen. People will start to make relationships, which is probably the right stage.

@spookalucca.tv are you thinking you and @trezy.codes?
I would also urge that this be a streamed highlight, not just for availability, but we still have time to advertise such a thing with stream.place (and i guess the new Twitch live indicator open beta)
