Listing Bluesky Social App forks

I just added a new resources page listing a couple of Bluesky Social App forks

Needs to have Blacksky added as well as some details around appview connections.

Feel free to edit / add, wiki mode is turned on.

I’m going to try and self host and will leave some notes here on that, and maybe Railway deployment.

Ok, I forked deer and got it running locally

  • brew install yarn (yeah, I have very little setup on this laptop)
  • yarn install
  • yarn web → things running locally in dev mode

Takes quite a while to load first time. I didn’t edit env at all, so have to look into what’s there. And figure out how to change deer branding. I’m so glad the top post was about kittens!

Don’t think I have access to edit the wiki page but I suggest we add BlackSky since they’re forking as much of the atproto infrastructure as they can.

Features — Today

Blacksky ships everything you expect from the upstream Bluesky client plus community-specific defaults:

Area Additions
Safety & Moderation @blacksky.appblacksky.app moderation service is the default and cannot be disabled, providing strong anti-hara@blacksky.appsment filtering out-of-the-box
Feed Control Blacksky: Trending feed replaces Discover as the landing feed
On-boarding • New users sign up on the Blacksky PDS and receive *.blacksky.app handles

They’ve also got rsky, the supporting infrastructure (relay, etc) but I can only post two links at a time, as a new member, lol.

Thanks @tigwyk.tv — I upgraded your role so you should be able to edit now. Since we’re linked to ATProto accounts I might be able to fix for new users. Can you try again to help me troubleshoot?

Oh sure, I’ll try editing the wiki when I’ve got a free moment today!
