Hey y’all! I’ve been noodling on some ideas lately and want to get something together that’s called “MiniSky.”
The idea behind MiniSky is that generally, most conversations are better had between smaller groups of people - less than 100, but more than 5. It should have two AppViews, one for internal conversations among your MiniSky group, and one for the larger atmosphere.
Additionally, one of the core ideas behind MiniSky is that you can do this on your own! You don’t have to rely on other people outside of your group. MiniSky should be easy enough for anyone who can set up a PDS can set up MiniSky, which should contain the full stack - labeler, relay, PDS, AppViews (2 min), FeedGen, and should deploy in a way that allows folks to use the central PDS or their own PDS. MiniSky should also allow for folks to decide not to stand up a piece of the stack on their own, and instead use another advertised IndieSky instance of that piece of the stack that is open for MiniSky instances.
MiniSky is not interested in developing its own implementation of each of the pieces of the ATProto architecture,
MiniSky is not looking to develop its own implementations of each part of the ATProto stack, but instead to provide the packaging and UI to deploy them in various configurations in a plug & play manner.
I’m primarily a sysadmin and architect, and less of a programmer (though I’m working on that), so I’m looking for partners who may wish to help me on this project.
I think giving people plug-and-play experiences for hosting their own ATProto stack and plugging into each others’ pieces in different ways is critical to help decentralization really take off.
Looking forward to hearing from folks!
