Sending money privately to other atproto users (skylight shop, stream.place subs, mutual aid, etc.)

Hey folks,

We’re conducting user research for blacksky.cash, a privacy-preserving payment layer we’re designing for AT Protocol. We’re looking for people willing to do a short interview and share their perspectives on what they’d want from payments infrastructure in the atproto ecosystem.

If you’re interested, please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdhGZmb1hG9IJInPYIDePYmoVcna1R8XTGXHvwA06tCgJoktg/viewform

We’re particularly hoping to hear from at least 2 people who have experience using cryptocurrency (wallets, exchanges, whatever). To be clear: Blacksky Payments is not dependent on crypto and this request doesn’t imply we’re building on blockchains or speculative assets. We’re using Chaumian ecash, which is a privacy technology from 1982 that works with traditional banking. But we think folks with crypto experience have useful perspective on self-custody, key management, and privacy tradeoffs that would help us design something better.

Happy to answer questions here too.

Filled the form. Looking forward to discussion  Interesting that (what I call/called) DigiCash is something to consider/use. Do remember that from way back, but though that was done and over with … Guess I was wrong

I’m very interested into talking about integrating payments with atproto.

I have some experience with PIX here on Brazil that might be useful too, so I just filled the form.

That’s very interesting! I was in Brasilia last week, talking about AT Proto there on the Annual Members Meeting of the Digital Public Goods Alliance (for which I’m contracting). I asked a few of the Brazilians in the meeting about PIX, as it seems the transaction cost is very low, if it could be infrastructure of payments more generally in an ecosystem like this. I didn’t get any good answers though, but it seemed like a welcome topic to talk about. I’d be interested in learning more, especially to understand if there’s something the DPGA could do in terms of connecting people.

What a small world.

I totally believe PIX could inspire payment systems around the world (I know a Brazilian fintech helped Colombia make a system just like that).

I know that there could be some obstacles as we change from a payment system with centralized control to a decentralized protocol. Some bridges would need to be placed.

(my lord Discourse went crazy here, not posting my reply as a direct reply to the right target multiple times)

Is it still too late to consider oneself for an interview? I noticed at the end of the form that it mentioned an interview date of 6 Dec.
