Hi all, looking forward to seeing you all in March! I’m planning to take the train (Amtrak) from San Francisco to Vancouver. It’s ~20h to Seattle, stay overnight there, then 4h to Vancouver. Full itinerary below. If you’re heading up from anywhere in California, feel free to join me (and Anuj) for an AT-train hackathon!
Wed 3/25 - Thu 3/26, Amtrak Coast Starlight 14
Arrives Seattle King Street Station 3/26 7:51p. Stations throughout CA; I‘ll probably board at Emeryville.
Stay overnight in Seattle
Fri 3/27, Amtrak Cascades 561
8:30a Seattle King Street Station - 12:30p Vancouver
I’ll probably only take the train up, not round trip.

This is such a cute idea! I’ve done similar in the old days of the gamedev Train Jam, and it’s a blast.

Me and my crew are going to be in Seattle the weekend before for some family stuff, but then we’re taking the train from Seattle to Vancouver that Monday or Tuesday.

Still have to work out if I can afford to attend, but if I do I’d take the train from Seattle! Goal will probably be leaving day of or day before ATscience event.

This sounds really cute. I’m considering visiting some friends in Santa Barbara before heading up and would also love to check out SF, so joining for train hackathon times could work really well
Edit: I realised the plan proposed above would mean getting there on the friday, and since I’m flying over from Aus i think i don’t want to miss any of the conf so might not join for this train adventure after all :’(
