2026 Events - ATProto, Open Social, Dev and More

We’re just about to hit December 2025, and various events in 2026 are confirmed and have dates. Which of them are ATProto folks showing up to? Which should we encourage people to submit to CFPs for?

See also the Community Tech Speakers concept.

Please fill in any conferences in your regional area that you think are a fit! Wiki mode is enabled for this post.

2026 Events

FOSDEM 2026, Brussels, Belgium

See FOSDEM 2026 Call for organizers

SCaLE

  • SCALE 23x | SCALE
  • March 5 - 8, 2026
  • Pasadena, CA (local to me, a really nice regional conference)

SXSW, Austin, Texas

@rude1.blacksky.team is speaking

Maybe a good time for a user meetup?

ATmosphereConf 2026, Vancouver, Canada

You’re coming, right??? ATmosphereConf

PAX East, Boston, Massachusetts

Opportunity for tent expansion. Gaming is ripe for ATproto innovation.

Write the Docs

WebSummit Vancouver

Last year Jay spoke and Boris hosted a small ATProto meetup.

PyCon

Republika, Berlin, Germany

New Public is looking at doing some kind of Open Social Festival inside / alongside this. More details as they arise.

Public Spaces, Amsterdam, NL

Met with folks at EuroSky Live who run this, sounds like a very good fit for community ATProto

Open Sauce, San Francisco, California

Large gathering of nerds and early adopters. Show off crazy products and hacks that old social can’t do?

Some others on my radar for this year (not AT-specific so maybe out of scope, but sharing anyway):

Chain React

WeAreDevelopers

All Things Open

How serious are you about PAX?
Same time as ATmosphere.

I am split interest.

PAX East is a fun idea; I’m flirting with the idea of sponsoring SGDQ in July in Minneapolis for similar reasons (just want to make sure we’d be at a place that we could offer the speedrunners something compelling product-wise)

What if we got a Canabalt remake done with atproto login and self-hosting high score records. Maybe a few other simple games? Flappies and Wordles. Then if GDQ was a validator, they could stamp the high scores and make them super official highlight.

Fun. Could ask a few folk?

Totally, though we should prolly fork off gaming-on-atproto stuff from this events thread

Thanks – I added them to the top post – wiki mode is on, feel free to add more as you find them.

I’ll also call out that a lot of YT creators go to Open Sauce. could be a good place to sell the atmosphere to big accounts

This is a conference for anyone involved in organising against big tech - activists, students, researchers, hackers, artists, or if you are just generally interested. The programme will not require previous knowledge. There will be plenty of opportunity to connect and combine struggles and ideas.

This is my list for 2026 I have been working on. Lots of overlap already
