There will be options to attend the conference remotely, with streaming powered by Streamplace.
For presenters, this is an in-person conference.
We’re looking at other remote / hybrid software and experiences. For example, maybe we can make a Roomy for every workshop and talk, for both local and remote attendees.
Our experience in Seattle was that people in person were very engaged and didn’t use the Discord chat much while the conference was happening – they were talking to people in person and/or posting to Bluesky.
Chat was used ahead of time to coordinate travel, and then evenings for meetups and going out together.
The remote attendee chat was very active! But we didn’t have dedicated people to bring any of that into the in-person experience (we’d call this “hybrid”, where remote attendees could be more connected to in person).
Will the workshops be available virtually or are there any virtual workshops?
Great question. The workshops will primarily be designed as in person workshops, with presentations and support. We’ll look at capturing video / streaming the ones that make sense, and as we confirm workshops we’ll discuss with presenters how / if they can also include remote participants.
Technically we could run fully virtual workshops, although we wouldn’t want to necessarily overlap with the timing of in-person workshops (which will already have some parallel tracks).
