EuroSky Live Nov 19th in Berlin

The Free Our Feeds team is holding an event in Berlin on November 19th, directly after the Franco-German Digital Sovereignty Summit.

This is being organized by @sherifea.com @seabass.bsky.social and others to pull together a day highlighting ATProto. If you’ve got a project, product, or other topic to present, reach out to them.

Register on Luma, details from the event page below.

Join founders, developers, media, policy-makers, and investors for a full-day public programme exploring the European open social web. This day sits alongside the Franco-German Digital Sovereignty Summit (18 Nov) and highlights how Europe can build a sovereign, interoperable social web.

The conference will showcase social web startups and projects as well as expert panels and keynotes addressing the market opportunity, responsible business models and the European policy landscape.

What is Eurosky?

Eurosky is a non-profit, public-interest infrastructure project building shared European rails for social media, search, news, and e-commerce—on top of the AT Protocol (ATProto). Eurosky aims to catalyze and support an ecosystem of startups and projects building the future of the social web in Europe.

Who should attend

  • Startups and developers building on the social web
  • Media, businesses and cultural organisations exploring new distribution
  • Policy-makers, regulators, and funders focused on European digital sovereignty
  • Investors interested in the next wave of open-protocol ventures

Just getting myself organized for this. @seabass.bsky.social @sherifea.com do you know the location of any of the venues yet? I need to look for accommodations.

I also don’t see a sign up for the Franco German thing and want to be make sure I can get in there, too.

Any info appreciated!

Sounds like Mitte or Kreuzberg are where we should plan to look.

@knowtheory.net and myself and now likely joined by Chad from Slices will be looking for a place. If there’s room for a 4th we’ll update here.

Hey Boris,

I replied to @knowtheory.net on Signal. Kreuzberg or Mitte will be the place to be! The Franco German summit is nothing public - it’s politicians only I fear.

I’ve booked my flights, will arrive morning of the 16th, and leave morning of the 22nd.

I don’t see anywhere to sign up for the sovereignty forum on the 18th and I know @chadtmiller.com @knowtheory.net @erlend.sh are all looking too.

@seabass.bsky.social @sherifea.com do you know where we should be looking to sign up?

Hey @bmann.ca,

see above: the Franco German summit is not public - it’s EU politicians only. So no signup possible I fear. But glad you’ll be in town for a few days. That will give all of us time to hang out!!!

Ok, so the 18th should be a kind of community day. We should figure out where we can gather / who will be in town.

Hey @seabass.bsky.social .

can you already share the venue so we can book hotels?

Thanks a lot – Torsten

Hey @bmann.ca I can make make an RSVP on Smokesignal (using the freshly created atproto.berlin handle). Have you investigated venues already?

Some initial ideas:

The venue is 99% Edge Workspaces (we’re just waiting for a final quote). https://www.edgeworkspaces.com/locations/berlin/

We’ll have live streaming - has anyone tried https://stream.place/ before?

Yes, Seattle and New York were streamed with Streamplace.

Great stuff. Is it straightforward?

Nice handle! Yes please go for it in making a smoke signal!

I think we should keep it pretty chill and just find a place to hang out / hack. Tables wifi club mate? EuroSky is the next day and we can save our energy for that.

I don’t really have much time personally to wrangle this. Good idea to kick off ATProto Berlin!

Plugs into OBS and other standard streaming tools so should be fine. You’ll need to be logged in with the account you want to host it.

@iame.li can likely advise and talk to your AV folks if they have questions.

Thank you. So if it will be Edge Grand Central close to the main station then the venues mentioned above do not really work for the community day. @bmann.ca We can do the “who will be in town” part first. For the “pretty chill and just find a place to hang out / hack” I will ask for help after we have a RSVP number.

@tgoerke.bsky.social is Oranienburger Tor a good area? Looking at hotels there to get a group rate. Thanks!

I can’t really say. Maybe the local people know more? @seabass.bsky.social

Hm, it’s a pretty touristy spot. So you should find decent places. And it’s close to the venue!
