Presently, we don’t have a coordinated venue for the people building and running 3rd party infrastructure to share methods, align on shared threats, or develop common standards. This working group would fill that gap.
Cross-protocol threat coordination: spam, CSAM detection, and inauthentic coordinated campaigns
Detection methodology sharing and best practices
Infrastructure gaps and trust limitations (e.g., lack of bidirectional communication between labelers and users (including infrastructure users) and absence of mechanisms to surface labeling rationale)
Governance models for collective decision-making across independent operators
Interoperability standards for moderation tooling and data exchange between these pieces of infrastructure
Emerging issues—e.g., private data is going to mean new threat surfaces for PDS Admins
Between the spam wave we’ve had over the last few weeks and momentum coming out of ATmosphereConf, this seems like a good time to gauge interest and potentially get a routine call going.
Thank you! I think we should start with discourse and if the group so chooses, we can always move elsewhere. If no one here objects, could assign @thisismissem.social and myself as owners of the space (assuming we can have 2), until we work out some governance procedures.
I can work with @scoiattolo.mountainherder.xyz and others to make this more legible - but just click on the group name / browse the groups page and click on request invite if you want to join.
This is partially also a test of how easy or hard Discourse closed groups onboarding is.
Thanks @bmann.ca. For everyone who has expressed interest, I’ll get a welcome post up in the space tonight along with some to-dos that need to get started. Like the Lexicon community, we’ll want a covenant and contributor guidelines.
